We shall call this the day of the views. After a leisurely morning with plenty of sleep the night before, Flynn and Ollie still ran slightly late to meet a friend at the Red Rock Casino. This person moved to the area in the past few years, so F&O wanted to pick his brain about living conditions. F&O are always on the lookout for the perfect place here in the desert, but have yet to come across the right lair. View #1 was from an outdoor seating area on the 2nd floor of the convention center at Red Rock, very private and beautiful. It was downright warm outside, 100% clear, and the view to the south was killer.

After spending a couple of hours chatting, F&O took a drive around the area of new houses to the NW of Summerlin, before heading back to the room to take a 2 hour nap. (Nailed it). A shower, some primping and preening, and they headed off to View #2 ~ The Legacy Club at Circa. This is a don’t miss destination, in downtown Vegas. It is 60 stories up, and has unobstructed views of – all over. There is a dress code, the décor is classy jazzy, there is outdoor seating with firepits, the cocktails are all craft and top notch. Flynn wants to live there.

Having consumed far too many top notch adult beverages, starvation set in. The bird and otter made their way to Evel Pie for a slice, before getting to View #3, the Golden Nugget Poker Room. (We knew you were waiting for the poker part of the day). There were 2- 2/4 limit games, and 2-1/2 NL games going. No plexi, games were 5 handed, and it all seemed a little…sketch as far as Covid diligence was concerned. Flynn got a seat at a new 2/4 limit game while waiting for a 1/2 seat, and promptly succeeded in pissing off the local wildlife opponent by not telling or showing his check-raise-on-the-river-raised-bet-by-villain-the-whole-way winning hand when villain folded. Those of you who know Flynn know that he NEVER shows his hand if he does not have to, and that his standard response when asked is ALWAYS “Give me X # of $, and I will tell you” where X is the amount of Flynn’s bet that the villain folded to. Usually this is a $figure above , oh, $20 or hundreds more. Of course, in this game, it was $4. The dude folded to a $4 raise then wants to know what Flynn had. HA! Flynn sure isn’t gonna fess up to what he had for 4-measly-bucks.

Right after that, Flynn got moved to a 1/2 game (Ollie was now at the other 1/2 table), which he pretty much crushed. Got good flops to go with the hands he decided to keep, and played the 4 other players with good reads. Last significant hand was QQ in early position, with an crafty raise to $12 which was just right for this crowd. 2 callers, and a purty Q-rag- rag on lop. A bet of $30 results in one caller, one folder. Next card , rag. Bet 40, villain pretends to think, shrugs, and goes all in. Snap Call by Flynn, and we crack his AA just like that. Bam. Been there an hour or two at most, Flynn racks up announces he’s outta there, and breaks the game.

Back southbound on the strip, F&O determined they needed nourishment (one piece of pizza for dinner several hours ago just isn’t gonna cut it), so they call SP Coronado and made a reservation for the steak n egg special. Yes, it’s 2 am, yes they made a reservation. It’s the law. On the way there they stopped for View #4 – the famous Welcome to Las Vegas Sign. Hard to believe, but in 17 years together, they have never stopped there. Pix in the dark with not a soul in site, and they moved on down the road to eat. Thank god for $5.95 steak n eggs. They did not stop in the SP poker room on their way out.

This day of views was done. On to the next.
