Tuesday, the slowest day on the strip and in the poker rooms. There was no hurry to get out and get going because there were no games, except a few outlying places like South Point and the dreaded Orleans. Not in the mood to saddle up the horse, he just wandered over to the Aria around 1030-ish, asked for them to text when a game started (there were none, zippo, nada), and took off for a walk and some photo ops. He made it to the Park MGM, (closed) then was headed over the empty pedestrian walkway to hit up the amusing M&M store.
Before he could get there, the text came through, so back to the Aria it was. Flynn’s positive story pretty much ends right there. The game started short-handed, filled up, then ended up very-short again before 1 pm. Flynn couldn’t win a hand to save his bird-life, dusted off a couple of buy-ins, and toddled off to the Bellagio, which (per Bravo), was rockin’.
Not one to disappoint, Bellagio did have lots of games going. It was an odd dynamic there when he first arrived. Very chaotic. They tried to seat him at a game where there were a couple of cranky (not old) people whining about filling seats, moving, and whatnot. Looking at the dynamic, and being ‘sat’ next to the obvious table bully, he decided this was a no-go and switched tables immediately. At first this seemed like a good move. In 10 minutes Flynn had added a stack to his buy-in and was well on his way to making up for his Aria loss. The joke was on Flynn though. The run-bad spiked again, Flynn made one bad call, and the rest was just plain cruel mis-fortune variance. Stubborn bird, made it partway into yet another (lost track) buy-in before calling it quits. This hurt.
Flynn briefly considered switching casinos, somewhere calm and friendly like the Sahara, but was just not in the mood. Instead, he took advantage of comps, got some Noodles to-go, and nursed his wounds in the room watching a Rizzoli and Isles marathon. All in all, there could be worse ways to end a losing session.
Back at it tomorrow, wish the pink flamingo luck!

Do F & O ever play some of the rooms that I generally consider fun: Bally’s, MGM, South Point? Mirage also used to be a favorite. Not the degree of luxury as Bellagio, Aria and Wynn, but often populated by people having fun, drinking, and generally spewing money.
This trip, neither Flynn nor Ollie played any of those rooms. Mirage is closed, but used to be one of our favorites to play in, it even hosted one of our ‘drunk poker’ episodes. Bally’s and MGM did not have games going while they were here this trip; not sure they are open now, or just not open during the day – but trust us, we have logged many many hours in those rooms. We have also spent time in a chair at South Point on numerous occasions (also a host of drunk poker once), however, just plain didn’t make it there this time. Bravo indicated it was doing a good business, however, so that is a happy thing! While Ollie likes O8, Flynn prefers to play (serious) NLHE in rooms that do not have promotions ~ add that to his central location hotel this time, he just hoofed it to Aria and Bellagio most of the time. Any poker room is a good poker room! F&O would love to meet up with you at any one of them sometime in the future.
