It has been a while since the Chronicle has written up a travel article – other than those related to Las Vegas & playing poker, of course. Lest you think Flynn and Ollie are total degens (only Flynn, not Ollie), here is proof they actually get out and ‘do stuff’.
Their newest obsession is taking 3-4 day weekends and haul the 5th wheel, cat, and laptops to the Oregon coast to hang out and do nothing. In the winter it is gray, windy, raining, and cold. Why, you ask, don’t you go somewhere closer, like a WA coast town? After all, why drive the extra couple of hours, when you can have all that joy a mere hour away?
Poker, duh! The ONLY place to play real, fake money on-line poker is PokerStars, which does not allow folks in WA to play on their site, even for fake money. Plus, since the home den is in WA, it just feels better to go out-of-state; more like a real vacation. So, while we take advantage of a few dry hours to play tourist, we can also hole up and just hang with the play $ cozen players when it’s ugly outside.
At any rate, here is proof that we do have a life outside of poker and LV:
This particular trip was taken to Seaside, OR. F&O got lucky, as they had a small part of one day that was not a downpour. Not that Ollie minds the rain so much, as he is an otter. Mr. Jones is not a fan, as he prefers fighting aliens indoors. Flynn likes the beach, no matter the weather, but sun is his preference.
So there you have it, faithful readers. A travel blog.
