How does the jet-set of poker do it? F & O have been planning a trip to Italy (and Paris) for months. Duration of trips: 2 weeks. The thought process about packing and preparation is nutso. Flynn has been stashing an array of clothing items, making list after list after list, and otherwise obsessing over having all the proper documents, confirmation numbers, and arrangements made.

Then, Flynn checks into Twitter, and reads about various (tournament) players flitting about the world, playing on a different continent every week. Who packs for you? How many suitcases do you take? How do you not lose your passport, keep track of reservation numbers, power cords, knowing how much cash to keep on hand, optimal $ conversion sources, and if you need special shots or a visa.

Too much or not enough?

I am not questioning how Phil H or DNegs accomplishes this massive undertaking. Obviously, a quick text to their assistants, and the mission is accomplished, bags packed and sitting by the door. I am more asking this of us regular critters, like tournament reporters (that’s you, Elle Sriracha) or full-time tournament grinders (you, Allen Kessler). Are you flying by the seat of your pants (if only Flynn could fly that way), or is there some secret to not fretting about forgetting something vital? Do you pay for checked bags, or just take a carry-on? How many changes of clothes do you take for a 4 day stint or a 2 week trip ~ is the the same either way? Do you send laundry out, or do it in your room? Matters of this importance should not be glossed over.

Ollie reminds Flynn that, yes, other countries have stores, so what has been forgotten can be purchased. Oh yeah, there is that.
