Thirty-six hours in the poker mecca that is Las Vegas, Flynn himself has not played a single full session. One does wonder, is this a good thing?

Instead, Flynn has been playing tourist host, as those who follow @FlynnandO on Twitter may already know. Flynn went to the to the Siegfried and Roy Park, which will likely become his personal cell-phone lot for McCarran Airport pick-ups.

Didn’t see any tigers. Nice park, though.

The morning of arrival, 45 minutes of poker happened while waiting for a plane arrival. This took place at Planet Hollywood, which is a rather unusual choice for Flynn; those experienced Vegasarians know it is not the closet to the airport, nor the most convenient to park if playing poker. However, a trip to the Vegas! The Show box office was necessary, as that was on the agenda for later that evening, and the phone needed charging. Sadly, Flynn managed to lose an entire buy-in in one hand to his opponent’s flopped bottom set to his Aces-up. Argh. BTW, make a mental note the phone “chargers” at the PH poker tables require a full pronged plug, not just a USB. (You are welcome.) Glass half full: the loss came right at the time we had to make the above mentioned airport run. No re-buy.

Flynn very much enjoyed the show later that night. Lots of dancing and costumes and singing and comedy and a great band. No photos were allowed. They threatened to beat us senseless if we used cameras.

The following day, there was a mandatory visit to the Venetian. The entertainment at St Marks Square is such a hidden, free, gem!

Next it was off to City Center:

After all this excitement, it was time for some genuine Italian food to stock up on some carbs. Ergo, off to Roma on Spring Mountain. It did not disappoint (never has), and there may be another foray there in the next week. Flynn loves pasta!

Feed Flynn!

The next morning there was some business to attend to, and in the afternoon a field trip to NYNY to contemplate a ride on the roller coaster. Nope, didn’t happen. Flynn did manage to win exactly $1.03 on a slot machine though. On Friday night Flynn and friends went to Echo and Rig which is a Flynn and Ollie favorite. The restaurant was up to it’s old tricks: great service, food, and adult beverages. (BTW, Tivoli Village valet is free – please tip generously – , so again we say kiss our asses, strip hotels).

The following morning consisted of more airport return treks, some tearful farewells, and move to Harrah’s for Flynn. Stay tuned for the ‘Bird on his own in Vegas’ (aka, poker trip reports) coming up very very soon.
