Flynn and Ollie awoke early this day and headed out to the remote wilds of the desert to a ghost town called Pahrump. They went there to scout potential future home sites, which seem to be a bit more affordable than the mega-city of the LV area. In reality Pahrump is a full on town/city of it’s own, with everthing one would need – Walmart, Carl’s Jr, nail salons, Home Depot and so forth. It is most certainly a growing metropolis. F&O were fortunate enough to be there on a gale-force wind day, so they got to see the town at it’s worst. In our opinion, this is the best way to tour a potential home-site: is it tolerable when it is off season/bad weather?
The drove all over the place in Pahrump. They saw the good side, the derelict side, the business district, the industrial district, and the sand. Lots and lots of sand, all over Angry Bird, in their hair, eyes, nose and throat. Assured by the locals that the wind was not a daily occurence, F & O are not unhappy with Pahrump. It would be an ‘okay’ place to live, if one were a home-body-ish type of critter, or had a career there. One would get more house for the money. The downside is it is an hour’s drive (and lots of fuel) from any other civilization. Future water could also be problematic, depending on growth and other enviornmental, greedy human factors.
Back in the LV valley, they restocked groceries and had some nosh in the room before heading over to the Aria for some 1/3 NL. Flynn had a very uneventful table, card dead and coolered again, and spent 5 hours there on one buy-in. Twice he was down to 4 red chips, ready to go home, double-up , gained a stack +, went back down to 4 chips… until he finally had a ‘normal’ run of cards/hands that he could parlay into his full buy-in + $5. Yes, that is right, Flynn made a five buck profit in 5 hours, so you do the math. That being said ~ he is not unhappy with his patience and determination to regain his lost dinero.
Ollie was seated at another table, got drunk, made a ton of money, lost it back, came back to the room at some ungodly hour, dead even. Since he is still sleeping, Flynn doesn’t have the deets. Clearly he had more fun than Flynn, but he is going to miserable on Day 9.
Did F&O make a decision about living in Pahrump? Nope.
