Thursday the 21st: Vegas is hoppin’. The EDC is in town along with several other conventions and events (Raiders, etc) this weekend. The Southpoint is crazy with decked out cowpersons participating in their rodeo. It is awesome to see business almost back to normal. This includes traffic. Flynn saw two gnarly car wrecks this day: one on LVB where the vehicle was crushed (no way the humans could have fared well), and one also smashed up (likely injuries as well) going the wrong way on an on-ramp. The pedestrians were up to their usual antics, playing frogger and ignoring lights. In the word of some TV show: be careful out there folks.

Flynn made it to the Bellagio to play his usual session of 2/5 – a game he has become addicted to. He had to wait about 45 minutes before they opened a new table – favorite! He got a good chair, ordered a beverage, and settled in for the duration. The duration didn’t last more than maybe 90 minutes. Flynn ran like Usain Bolt, getting cards and the monster flops or run-outs to go with them. Varience was on his side and it was good.

Bam!

No dumb bird, after many, many, many lessons learned and observed, Flynn opted to hit and run. He bought out the table of blacks, cashed out, and hit the road. He didn’t even get to use the comps acquired for lunch, he just waddled outta there.

As it was his last day, he took a trip to the Rio to get one lasts look at the WSOP, try to do some star-stalking, and see what was up. He couldn’t find Allen Kessler, despite the effort. (Knew you were there Allen, and we need a pix of our hero). The place was a ghost town. The events were all mix/razz/weird-ass games, so the fields were small. However, the nice folks at PokerGo gifted Flynn with a sweatshirt and some free training at Solve For Why, so that was pretty rad. Thanks, Matt Berkey!

Where is everyone @ WSOP?

Flynn was tempted by the cool lighted tables, short list, and stack-sizes, so the threw in some $ to play 2/5. This did not go well. He got absolutely demolished within about an hour or so, played about 8 hands, and missed or second best every time. Clearly the tide had turned. Opting not to re-buy, he just got the heck outta there. Gotta know when, right?

By this time, it was mid-evening. Flynn considered calling it a day, but naw. He headed to the Wynn/Encore poker room (which one is it called, anyway??) to play some 1/3. He had about a 10 minute wait, and was seated to the left of this stack:

On Flynn’s right : 1/3 game

To a pro like Flynn, this is juicy! Gonna get some of dem chippies, baby! Another person two to his right was loose as a goose, rich (Wynn black card rich), and intoxicated. Ideal situation, right? If only the cards would cooperate. High pocket pairs, AK suited, top-pair,top-kicker all lost to random hands like 8-2 (apparently the table favorite). It was ugly. Flynn lost a buy-in in record time, but he was not in the mood to quit. Instead, he changed seats. Bam. 30 minutes later he had half his initial buy-in back. 1 hour later he had it all back and then some. Two nut-flush hits on the river should be creditied with most of the comback, AK suited and AJ suited. The loser was unhappy and repeatedly told Flynn how lucky he was. Ha! Dude, your pocket 8s were a flip at best from the get go when there were two hearts on the flop. Math.

Up a small amount within 2 hours of arriving, Flynn didn’t want to trust varience and didn’t have the time to grind. He cashed out, and went back to the room, profit accomplished for the day.

Oh yeah, he got to meet this guy! He was friendly and totally cool. Flynn would love to sit down and have a convo with him someday. ( @johnnievibes ) Thanks for the pix 🙂

  1. Glad to see that Wynn was good to you. It was great to me this trip. If only I could have gotten to Bellagio early enough to get a seat there. Happy to see Flynn drowning in chups!
