Since arriving in LV, F&O had been staying at the South Point. This day was moving day, so F&O forced themselves to get packed up and schlep all their stuff to Vdara. As they had about 6 bags of stuff, this is a logistics problem relating to check-out times vs check in times, and the odd parking situation at Vdara. Deets: Vdara only has valet parking, which they charge for. F&O tip valet, but they do not pay for valet. If you wish to self-park, you do so at the Aria. F&O don’t pay for parking, so they opted to bell-store their bags while Flynn pre-checked in, Ollie tookthe vehicle to Aria, which is where they were going to play poker anyway.

Of course, Vdara being the classy place they are, upgraded F&O and allowed them to check in early at no extra charge. Bless their hearts. Flynn got the bags, ordered robes and dishware, unpacked and got the room settled while Ollie waited around the Aria for their poker seats (they had called in previously). By the time Flynn got to the Aria poker room, he and Ollie only had to wait another hour for a seat. The dealer shortage is real, folks.

Seated, finally, at two different tables, the play commenced. The cards turned to Flynn’s favor – as in they were a normal run of cards. This renewed his confidence in his playing ability. He lost some, he won more. There was a decent profit by the end of his 6 hour stent in seat #1. There were enough comps to cover seafood fried rice from Lemongrass. Flynn did not win enough to make up for previous losses this trip, but who cares, it was a positive result. Finally!! Flynn opted to cash out and go enjoy the new digs. Chillax.

Ollie also had enough comps to eat for free: a Papaya Asian salad from Lemongrass <- spicy but delicious. He ran into Tim Watts (TheTrooper97), and generally enjoyed his table. Ollie stayed for an hour after Flynn left before cashing out (down, we thinks) and hitting the room. Hint: if you have comps, bypass the burger joint. Lemongrass has far superior food.

There is something cathartic about hanging out in a really nice hotel room, with a killer view, knowing you have no agenda for the next few days… you can do anything you want, whenever you want. No alarms, no appointments, no nothing. Just the way F&O like it.

  1. Good to see that things finally turned around. And yes – definitely Lemongrass with comps. Mr Subliminal used to have tons of comps and paid for a meal or two there for me. Late one night I also got pizza with the comps. Not bad at all.

Onward and upward. Good luck the next few days. 😀
