F&O spent 3 days, 2 nights at the Oregon Coast in the vicinity of Lincoln City. They did bird and otter activities, including working up a thirst and appetite on the beach.
Smoked salmon (brought from home) for lunch after arrival at the RV park. Can’t go wrong with that.
Maxwell’s for dinner, included Halibut fish & chips and clam chowder. Both were delicious – really really delicious. Of course, all food is good after a few libations. FWIW, Flynn thinks the clam chowder at Oscar’s Dirty Annex is one star better, but it was close. Flynn also had lemon drops, each one made by a different bartender. Now, both of those were fab ~ and F would never say which was better, but one was….. Ollie was a good boy and only had one spiced rum & coke (he was at the beach, after all).
Sadly you can’t see the drunk birthday guy in this pix. It’s not a locals’ bar til someone falls over. BTW, too hungry and buzzed to take pix of the food.
Lunch recommendation was Mazatlan in Depoe Bay. This was another good choice, as the other ‘view’ restaurants were packed up with spring-breaker tourists. This small place has great views (for which they provide binoculars at each booth) which you would never know by its location and is popular with locals. Their seafood chimichangas (and burritos) are made with real crab, as well as shrimp and scallops. Prices were not a tourist-gouge either, if it matters to anyone out there.
Dinner was at Spirit Mountain poker room ~ a salad with salmon added. Oddly enough, the salmon filet was cold. As in chilled, cold. Kinda odd, but not bad. Blackened/heated would have done the fish some justice.
Breakfast on our last day was at Shucker’s Oyster Bar in Lincoln City. Best ever. Thank goodness we don’t live anywhere near this place, cause the otter would be an elephant, and the flamingo would be a pot-bellied-penguin. Oyster omelet and also chicken-fried steak. (We split each). Real food, real fresh, and Flynn will be craving these for a long, long time. Might just go back to Lincoln City for these. Oh yeah, lots of people were drinking Bloody Mary beverages on this morning, and if we didn’t have a long drive home, it would have been a part of the breakfast as well. They looked real good. Real.
Making Flynn and Ollie hungry just writing this. Time for lunch!
